Homeless Awareness Sleep Out

Veteran’s Hope

Our dream at The Bridge is to turn this old Victorian house into a temporary home for Veterans suffering from addictions or PTSD.

We are currently asking for sponsorships to help with the revitalization of the Bridge Veterans’ House on Crane Street in Schenectady, NY.  This house will be used to help veterans and the homeless with food and emergency, temporary housing.

Our Homeless Awareness Sleep Out is an effective event in bringing awareness and support for the ever-growing homeless population in Schenectady, NY.

Pastor Bookhout and other volunteers sleep outside in refrigerator boxes to raise awareness and funds for the unsheltered homeless.

Corporate sponsors who give $100 or more, for a volunteer sleeping outside may have the name of their company or business logo professionally monogrammed on the blanket. These blankets will then be given out to those who are in need of a warm blanket throughout the cold months. The Bridge Logo will be monogrammed for private anonymous sponsors.

The Sleep Out Event is typically scheduled in February at the Bridge food pantry at 801 Crane Street in Schenectady. Hot food and warm beverages are offered to those in need.

A special thanks to Henry Street Barbers of Saratoga for offering free haircuts for those in need or to anyone who would like to make a donation.

If you are interested in being a sponsor, please contact The Bridge at 518-864-5849.

You can also make a one time donation of any amount by clicking on the red GIVE button on the right sidebar. In the “choose fund” drop down box select Bridge Veterans House. No gift is too small and every dollar helps. Donations of slightly used or new winter coats and hats/gloves are also always welcome.

We are excited to see how together, we are able to help revitalize our Mont Pleasant neighborhood.

If you would like to see The Veterans’ House you may schedule a tour, by calling 518-374-4693. The Bridge Center provides other free services and ministries: Food Pantry, a workout Gym, Boxing ring, and more.

Thank you to all Bridge Church volunteers and sponsors who are faithful in helping us with our Homeless Awareness Sleep Outs.
