Homeless Awareness Sleep Out

Veteran’s Hope

Our dream at The Bridge is to turn this old Victorian house into a temporary home for Veterans suffering from addictions or PTSD.

This year, for our 3rd annual Homeless Awareness Sleep Out, we are asking for sponsors to help with the revitalization of the Bridge Veterans’ House on Crane Street in Schenectady, NY.

This house will be used to help veterans and the homeless with food and emergency, temporary housing. On February 23rd Pastor Bookhout and other volunteers will be sleeping outside in refrigerator boxes to raise awareness for the unsheltered homeless.

Corporate sponsors who give $100 or more, for a volunteer sleeping outside may have the name of their company or business logo professionally monogrammed on the blanket. These blankets will then be given out to those who are in need of a warm blanket throughout the cold months. The Bridge Logo will be monogrammed for private anonymous sponsors.

The Sleep Out Event is scheduled for Friday February 23rd 8pm until Saturday 7am, right in front of The Bridge Food Pantry at 801 Crane Street in Schenectady. Hot chili, soup, beverages and winter clothing will be given out to those in need.

Also at the event will be the Henry Street Barbers of Saratoga giving free haircuts for those in need or to anyone who would like to make a donation.

If you are interested in being a sponsor, please contact The Bridge at 518-864-5849

You can also make a one time donation of any amount by clicking on the red GIVE button on the right sidebar. In the “choose fund” drop down box select Bridge Veterans House. No gift is too small and every dollar helps. Any donations of good, used or new winter coats are also always welcome.

We are excited to see how together, we are able to help revitalize our Mont Pleasant neighborhood.

If you would like to see The Veterans’ House you may schedule a tour, by calling 518-374-4693. The Bridge Center provides other free services and ministries – Food Pantry, Clothes Closet, a full workout Gym, Boxing ring, Laundry facility and much more.

You may also call that number to be a volunteer that night, to provide soup, help inside, or to brave the cold outside.
